Yellow Springs, Ohio: 1953-66

I grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio, between 1953 and 1966. YSO is an idyllic southern Ohio farm town, home to ultra-hip (at that time) Antioch College. (My parents were Antioch dropouts.)

Here's some of the kids I hung out with in Yellow Springs:

That's me on the left, and the class bully on the far right. A year or two before these pictures, he was throwing rocks at me, and I fell and broke my arm.

The third from the left is my friend David, who's in Costa Rica, having burnt out on programming Crays in Austin. We collected coins together, and later chemical elements. And we worshipped John Lennon!

I used to fall in love with some girl at least once a year. I was always too shy to do anything about it, though....

Here's some more of the same (these pictures are very dear to me!)
